Role Overview
We are seeking a Panel Integration Architect to lead the scale-up and production of our technology on large-area glass substrates. While our IC and Systems engineering teams develop the core silicon and physical sensor behavior, you will be the definitive expert on how these components integrate with Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) backplanes. You will own the technical relationship with global display panel foundries, guide the architectural trade-offs between IC requirements and panel capabilities, and drive process integration from pilot to mass production. You’ll work closely with materials, electronics, and manufacturing teams to bring our lab-scale process into a repeatable, scalable production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Foundry Management & Strategy: Serve as the primary technical liaison with global display panel fabs. Negotiate custom process flows, define design rules, and manage technology transfer and tape-outs.
TFT & Panel Architecture: Define the pixel/sensor architectures, routing strategies, and backplane specifications. Make critical trade-off decisions between different TFT technologies (e.g., LTPS, IGZO/Oxide, a-Si) based on manufacturability and product objectives.
Process Integration & Yield: Guide the fab through process tuning and defect reduction. Lead cross-functional task forces to address complex yield limiters, process variations, and panel-level reliability issues.
System-Level Co-design: Work closely with Mixed-Signal IC Designers and Systems Engineers to ensure the ROIC/Driver ICs are perfectly matched to the panel's parasitic capacitance, resistance, and TFT device characteristics.
Advanced Packaging Strategy: Drive the integration strategy for bonding custom silicon to the backplanes (e.g., Chip-on-Glass, Chip-on-Flex, Micro-transfer printing).
Technical Leadership: Act as an internal consultant and mentor. Translate complex fab constraints into actionable Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines for the broader engineering team.
Requirements & Attributes
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in the display industry (LCD, OLED, MicroLED) or large-area active-matrix sensors (e.g., X-ray detectors, fingerprint sensors).
Deep fundamental understanding of TFT device physics, especially amorphous silicon, LTPS, and metal-oxide technologies.
Extensive, proven track record of directly interacting with and managing tier-1 and tier-2 display foundries in Asia.
Expertise in panel-level process steps: photolithography, PECVD, sputtering, dry/wet etching, and substrate handling.
Willingness to travel internationally to interface directly with fab partners during critical production phases.
Comfort working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment.

Compensation: $180,000- $220,000 Salary + Equity
